True Partner Capital USA joins the New York Global Volatility Summit on September 2022

In-person gathering for institutional investors

The 13th Annual Global Volatility Summit will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Pier Sixty in New York City.

While the prior two events were held in a virtual format, the Global Volatility Summit will be back in its original format: an in-person gathering of several hundred attendees including hedge fund managers, industry experts and senior investment professionals across the financial markets.

The content for the annual summit is thoughtfully designed to educate institutional investors on the use of volatility and quantitative related strategies.

At the event, panelists include hedge fund managers across the volatility, tail hedging, quant, and macro spaces to discuss their views on the markets and the use of such strategies within the context of institutional investment portfolios.

Long time visitor: from 2016 and onwards

True Partner Capital has been a sponsor and contributor to the Global Volatility Summit since 2016, having attended both New York and Tokyo sessions. We believe the Summits are a great opportunity to discuss markets and volatility and share our insights with the broader investment community.

Sharing knowledge with investors

In its twelfth year, the Global Volatility Summit is dedicated to educating investors and providing thought leadership around the volatility markets. Through the lens of volatility, quantitative, and systematic strategy experts, the annual conference is developed for senior investment professionals managing global institutional investment portfolios.

Global Volatility Summit brings together experienced hedge fund managers, industry experts, and senior investment professionals that manage portfolios for some of the world’s largest pensions, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, asset managers and banks.

Discussions, panels and presentations are designed to examine the various roles of volatility, tail hedging, quant and macro strategies in the context of an institutional investment portfolio. Next to thought-provoking keynote speakers, the event facilitates collaborative networking sessions.

During the summit, investors will have the opportunity to meet our team to continue discussing the topics of the day.

True Partner Capital USA manager speaker at the 2022 event

Tobias Hekster, Co-CIO of True Partner Capital USA in Chicago, will be a speaker again at the 13th Global Volatility Summit in September 2022. He will contribute to the panel about "The Volatility and Derivatives Markets in 2022 and Expectations Going Forward".

As 2022 has been an unusual year in terms of the market movement and the relatively muted reaction of global equity volatility, the panel promises to be an interesting one. This opens the discussion into the drivers of volatility behavior over the year and the potential catalysts for more significant volatility dislocations in the near future.

Tobias Hekster has been actively trading for the past 24 years in various different roles in several markets across the globe. Starting at IMC in 1998 as a pit trader in Amsterdam, Tobias has established the off-floor arbitrage desk, headed the Chicago office in the transition from floor trading to electronic trading and set up the Asian volatility arbitrage desk in Hong Kong.

Tobias holds a MSc in Economics and has taught as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and as an Adjunct Professor of Financial Practice at National Taiwan University.

During the years he worked at the Hong Kong office of True Partner, he has been interviewed by Bloomberg TV regularly to discuss geopolitical events and its implications on volatility in Asia.
